Olha Valerijiwna Saladucha ( Ukrainian Ольга Валеріївна Саладуха , English transcription Olha Saladukha ; born June 4, 1983 in Donetsk , USSR ) is a Ukrainian triple jumper . She was world champion in 2011 and European champion in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
Athletic career
Olha Saladucha gained her first international experience in 1999 when she finished ninth at the Youth World Championships in Bydgoszcz with 12.76 m, as well as at the Junior European Championships two years later in Grosseto with 13.07 m. In 2002 she was fifth at the Junior World Championships in Kingston with a width of 13.17 m and fourth at the U23 European Championships in 2005 in Erfurt with 13.93 m. Then she won the silver medal at the Summer Universiade in Izmir with 13.96 m. At the European Championships in Gothenburg the following year , she finished fourth with 14.38 m. In 2007 she won the Student World Games in Bangkok with a new personal best of 14.79 m and placed fifth at the World Championships in Osaka with a width of 14.60 m. In 2008, she placed sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia with 14.32 m, as well as at the Olympic Games in Beijing , where she jumped 14.70 m in the final .
In 2009 Saladucha was not active, but returned successfully in 2010. At the European Championships in Barcelona she won with 14.81 m and 0.25 m ahead of the Italian Simona La Mantia . At the World Championships the following year in Daegu , South Korea , she became world champion with a personal best of 14.94 m. In 2012, Saladucha defended her European title in Helsinki and again improved her personal best to 14.99 m. Shortly afterwards at the Olympic Summer Games in London she was the favorite, but only saved the bronze medal in the last jump of 14.79 m behind Kazakh Olga Rypakowa and Caterine Ibargüen from Colombia. In March 2013 she won the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, with the personal best of 14.88 m. In 2014 she won the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, with 14.45 m behind Russian Jekaterina Konewa, as well as the third title in a row at the European Championships in Zurich , where she reached a distance of 14.73 m. In 2015 she took part in the 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing , where she finished sixth with 14.41 m in the final , as well as at the European Championships in Amsterdam the following year with 14.23 m. But she also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated with 13.96 m in the qualification .
In 2018 she took part in the European Championships in Berlin for the sixth time , but this time with 14.04 m she failed to qualify for the final of the top twelve for the first time. In 2019 she won the bronze medal behind the Spanish Ana Peleteiro and Paraskevi Papachristou from Greece at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with a width of 14.47 m in the final .
In 2007 and 2008 as well as in 2017 and 2018, Saladucha was Ukrainian champion in the triple jump outdoors and in 2007 and 2008, 2014 and from 2017 to 2019 also indoors. In 2011 she also secured the overall ranking of the IAAF Diamond League . She is in a relationship with the Ukrainian cyclist Denys Kostjuk .
