The company Bergmann's industrial works of Theodor Bergmann put 1,895 to 1,903 automobiles here, as Orient Express were marketed. 350 of the vehicles developed by the engineer Joseph Vollmer were built by 1899. The Süddeutsche Automobil-Fabrik Gaggenau took over the company's motor vehicle business in 1905.

The first model was similar to the Benz models at the time . The single-cylinder engine with 1800 cm³ displacement with initially 3 HP , later 4 HP was arranged in the rear and propelled the rear axle via belts. The rear wheels were larger than the front. There were two-seater Phaeton, four-seater double phaeton and four-seater face-to-face body styles . This model was produced until 1903. There were also similar models with two-cylinder and four-cylinder engines .
