from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1986/87 season of the Mexican Primera División was played with 21 teams, because in the previous 1985/86 season with the Cobras Querétaro there was a promoted but no relegated team. The team from Chivas Guadalajara became champions for the first time in 17 years and for the ninth time , while at the end of the season there were two relegated teams with Club León and the promoted Cobras Querétaro due to the league that was reduced to 20 in the following season 1987/88 .

Game abandonment season

In the 1986/87 season there were three game cancellations. The first occurred on the third day of play when, on August 17, 1986, the Súper Clásico between America and the eventual champions Chivas was canceled in the 74th minute due to a mass brawl between both teams and was only played to the end on October 1, 1986. The result of 1-0 for America from the original encounter was valid because there were no more goals in the remaining 16 minutes of the rescheduled game.

The second game abandonment occurred on the 19th matchday in the encounter between Tampico-Madero FC and Puebla FC . The game played on December 6, 1986 was canceled in the 86th minute when the score was 2: 1 for Puebla due to an unspecified incident and not rescheduled, so that the result of 2: 1 for Puebla was included in the rating.

The third game was abandoned on matchday 34 in a Clásico Regiomontano between CF Monterrey and UANL Tigres . After Ricardo Ferretti scored the 2-1 goal with a penalty in the 86th minute , a fight broke out among the players of both teams, as a result of which the team of CF Monterrey left the pitch in protest. In retrospect, this behavior of the host was punished and the game was rated 2-0 for UANL.

Record results

The highest-scoring game took place on October 12, 1986 (11th matchday) between CD Irapuato and Tecos UAG and ended 5: 5. The most successful goalscorer of that game was the Tecos player Chicharo (father of Chicharito ), who scored three goals. On the same day, the 4: 4 between Deportivo Toluca and Atlético Morelia was another high-scoring encounter.

The highest win of the season dates from May 3, 1987 and took place on the 40th matchday between Puebla FC and Tampico-Madero FC; So in that encounter, the first game in the first half of the season ended with a game abandoned. This time the game went the full distance and was won 8-1 by Puebla. The most successful goalscorer was Paul René Moreno , who initiated the goal festival in the tenth minute and made it 7-0 (85th minute) and the final score of 8: 1 (90th minute) in the final minutes.
