Raasdorf (postal: Raasdorf bei Wien) is a municipality with 640 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Marchfeld ( Gänserndorf district , Lower Austria ).
geography
Raasdorf is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria, right on the border with the Austrian capital Vienna . The area of the municipality covers 13.2 square kilometers, about one percent of which is forested. Raasdorf is laid out as an anger village with a church in the middle.
Community structure
The municipal area comprises two villages that make up the cadastral communities or localities of the same name (area 2016; inhabitants as of January 1, 2020):
- Pysdorf (287.22 ha, 15 Ew.)
- Raasdorf (1,033.74 ha, 625 Ew.)

history
It was first mentioned in a document in 1160.
Raasdorf was raised to an independent parish in 1749.
In 1809 the location was one of the scenes of the Battle of Wagram .
From 1938 to 1954 Raasdorf belonged as part of the newly created 22nd district of Groß-Enzersdorf (sometimes: Großenzersdorf) to Groß-Wien , then to the political district Vienna-Umgebung . Since January 1st, 1957, the community has been part of the political district of Gänserndorf.
Population development
According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 664 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 560 inhabitants, in 1981 399 and in 1971 468 inhabitants.

Culture and sights
- Catholic parish church Raasdorf hl. Magdalena: The church with an essentially Romanesque nave . The church tower in the east is closed by a hood from the Biedermeier period . The baroque choir was completed in 1736. The sacristy in the north is Gothic , the one in the south is baroque. There is a classical altar in the church .
economy
In 2001 there were 32 non-agricultural workplaces and 17 agricultural and forestry holdings according to the 1999 survey. According to the 2001 census, the number of people in work in the place of residence was 385, and the 2001 participation rate was 59 percent.

- Train: Raasdorf is located on the Marchegger Ostbahn , regional trains in the direction of Vienna and Marchegg stop every hour at Raasdorf station .
