Rafael Alexandre Fernandes Ferreira Silva , called Rafa Silva or just Rafa (born May 17, 1993 in Forte da Casa ), is a Portuguese football player . He is currently under contract with Benfica Lisbon .

Career

In the club

Rafa was in the town of Forte da Casa circle Vila Franca de Xira born. In his youth he played in the Lisbon district for the football clubs Atlético Povoense and FC Alverca . In 2011 he switched to CD Feirense . On July 29, 2012, he made his professional debut as part of a league cup game . In the second division season 2012/13 he established himself as a regular player and only missed one league encounter.

In June 2013, Rafa moved to the first division club Sporting Braga for an unknown transfer fee . He signed a five-year contract and made his debut in the Primeira Liga on August 26, 2013 .

In the national team

Rafa played for the Portuguese U20 team for the first time on April 23, 2013, but was not nominated for the U20 World Cup that took place in the same year . On March 5, 2014 he was under coach Paulo Bento in a friendly against Cameroon his debut in the senior team .

At the European Championships in France in 2016 , he was included in the Portuguese squad. His only appearance was in the second group game against Austria, when he was substituted on shortly before the end. The team made it to the final, where hosts France were defeated. This was the first time that Portugal became European champions.
