Rosbach vor der Höhe (officially Rosbach vd Höhe ) is a Hessian town on the edge of the Taunus southwest of Friedberg in the Wetterau district .

Neighboring communities and districts
Rosbach borders in the north on the city of Friedberg , in the east on the community of Wöllstadt , in the south on the city of Karben (all in the Wetterau district) and in the west on the cities of Bad Homburg and Friedrichsdorf and the community of Wehrheim (all three in the Hochtaunus district ).

Rosbach consists of the districts Nieder-Rosbach , 2551 inhabitants (December 31, 2004), Ober-Rosbach , 4965 inhabitants (December 31, 2004) and Rodheim vor der Höhe , 4780 inhabitants (December 31, 2004).
history
Archaeological finds go back to the ceramic and Celtic times.
The oldest surviving mention of "Rosbach" comes from the year 884, the originally independent district of Rodheim was documented as early as 805 in the Lorsch Codex . The origin of the name is not clearly established, but the most likely explanation is the derivation from the Middle High German word "roezen" or "rozen" (roasting), which denoted a breakdown process during flax processing .
In 884 Ober-Rosbach was donated to the Fulda Abbey as an imperial gift . Later the place became the property of the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt , the Count of Nassau and the Elector and Archbishop of Trier . In 1663 the community received city rights. The Rodheim vd Höhe district was the seat of the Rodheim office from around 1600 to 1821 .
From 1850 to 1926, manganese ore mining was carried out in 80 mines . In 1901 Nieder-Rosbach and Rodheim were connected to the German railway network by the Friedberg – Homburg railway line. In 1912, the previously common districts in Nieder- and Ober-Rosbach were separated.
The arson attack in Rosbach in 1988 by Action Directe sympathizers was reported nationwide.
Incorporations
In the course of administrative reform in Hesse on December 1, 1970, until then independent municipality Nieder-Rosbach were in the city of Ober-Rosbach incorporated . The city of Ober-Rosbach was officially renamed Rosbach . On 1 August 1972, this was short-lived city with the community Rodheim of heights powerful state law to a new city Rosbach together . On March 14, 1973 this was given the name Rosbach vor der Höhe .

- The non-party mayor Detlef Brechtel was confirmed in office on August 24, 2008 with 73.1% of the votes in the first ballot. The turnout was 32.7%.
- On October 7, 2012, the non-party Thomas Alber was elected to succeed Detlef Brechtel with 56.30% of the vote in the second ballot. The opposing candidate Henrik Schnabel received 43.70% of the vote, the turnout was 50.68%
- On November 11, 2018, the independent Steffen Maar was elected to succeed Thomas Alber with 54.3% of the vote. The opposing candidate Christoph Käding received 45.7%, the turnout was 54.84%.

Economy and Infrastructure

The traditional company of the Rosbacher Mineralwasserquelle is located in the Nieder-Rosbach district , and has been part of the Hassia mineral springs since 2001 . Furthermore, in the Ober-Rosbach district there is a large, widely visible central warehouse and administration building of the Rewe German supermarket KGaA. In the same large industrial area with retail and wholesale companies there are two fast food restaurants, supermarkets and petrol stations. The German headquarters of Triumph Motorcycles Limited have also been located there since 2009 . Quartzite quarries can be found in the adjacent forest area .

The community has a connection to the nearby A 5 Frankfurt - Kassel motorway and a rail connection to the Friedberg – Friedrichsdorf railway line . The Rosbach vd Höhe station was opened in 1901, and the station building is now a listed building . On December 1, 2010, the first groundbreaking ceremony for the Nieder-Rosbach southern bypass, which has been planned for ten years. In three construction phases over around three kilometers, it is to create a better connection to the district starting from the eastern K 11 via the L 3352 to the B 455 to the motorway. The first section (B 455 to Dieselstrasse) was released in March 2012, the second section (up to the new roundabout on the L 3352 over a new railway bridge) was released on December 20, 2012. The third section (from the roundabout to the K 11 old, about one kilometer) was started in early 2013.

Attractions
The old moated castle is located in the Nieder-Rosbach district. A good three kilometers west of the Ober-Rosbach district is the Roman Kapersburg fort , which is considered to be one of the best-preserved facilities in the Upper German-Raetian Limes . On the occasion of the recognition of the Limes as a UNESCO World Heritage Site , the castle, which was excavated and preserved at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, was completely restored and the entire area was converted into an archaeological park.
