Ruta (after 1945 briefly Znajewo , German  Rauttershof ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Barciany (rural community Barten ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Ruta is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , eleven kilometers south of the former district town of Gerdauen (now in Russian Schelesnodoroschny ) and 21 kilometers northwest of today's district metropolis Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The little after 1871 Rautershof , including: Rauthershof called town was founded in 1820 and was until 1945 a Vorwerk by Will comb ( Polish Wielewo ) in the East Prussian district Gerdauen .

Since 1945 the place called "Znajewo", today called "Ruta", has belonged to Poland with the whole of southern East Prussia and is part of the rural community Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmian Voivodeship Masuria belonging.

Until 1945 Rauttershof was in the Protestant Church Molthainen (1938 and 1945 was: Molteinen, today Polish Mołtajny ) in the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Prussian Union of churches and the Roman Catholic Church of St. Bruno in Insterburg (now Russian Tschernjachowsk ) in the diocese of Warmia eingepfarrt .

Today Ruta belongs to the Catholic parish Mołtajny in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and to the Protestant parish of Barciany , a branch of the St. John's Church in Kętrzyn in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Ruta is located on the important north-south voivodship road 591 (former German Reichsstrasse 141 ), which leads from the Polish-Russian state border to Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) and on to Mrągowo (Sensburg) . A side road runs from Frączkowo (Fritzendorf) to Błędowo (Blandau) or Czaczek (Schätzels) through the town.

Ruta does not have its own rail connection. Between 1951 and 2000 Wielewo (German Willkamm ) was the next railway station on the Toruń – Tschernjachowsk railway line , which was reserved for freight traffic and which is only used as a passenger line to Korsze (Korschen) .
