With 350 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), Saint-Blaise is one of the small communities in the Haute-Savoie department. In the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, the number of inhabitants decreased continuously due to strong emigration (in 1861 there were still 203 inhabitants in Saint-Blaise). Since the mid-1980s, however, there has been a significant increase in population thanks to the attractive residential area.
Economy and Infrastructure
Saint-Blaise is still a predominantly agricultural village today . There are also some local small businesses. A large number of workers are commuters who work in the larger towns in the area as well as in the Annecy and Geneva-Annemasse area.
The village is located away from the major thoroughfares, but is still well developed in terms of traffic. The main access is from the N201 road at Col du Mont Sion. Further road connections exist with Cruseilles and Mont Salève. The closest connection to the A40 and A41 motorways is around 10 km away.
