The Scottish League Cup was played for the 2nd time in 1947/48 . The Scottish Football League Cup, which was played among the participants of the Scottish Football League , began on August 9, 1947 and ended with the repeat final on November 1, 1947 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As the defending champion, the Glasgow Rangers started the competition which had prevailed against FC Aberdeen in the previous year's final . In this year's final, FC Falkirk met second division club FC East Fife . After a 0-0 draw in the first final game, the Fifers surprisingly prevailed 4-1 in the repeat finals . The Falkirk FC finished second in the season 1947/48 to seventh place in the table in Division One and stood with Archie Aikman the scorer . The Fifers were second division champions and also set the top scorer in Henry Morris .
