The 1997 Spielothek-Cup was the twelfth edition of the handball competition and was held on August 22nd and 23rd, 1997 in the East Westphalian cities of Minden and Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The TuS Nettelstedt prevailed in the final with 28:27 (14:14) gates in the mill district derby against TSV GWD Minden through and won his fourth title. TBV Lemgo secured third place with 31:27 (12:16) against the French representative US Ivry HB from Paris . Paris' Stéphane Joulin was the top scorer with 21 goals.

mode

It was played with four teams in the knockout system with two semi-finals, the game for third place and the final. The playing time was 2 × 30 minutes. In the event of a tie after the end of regular playing time, there would have been an extension of 2 × 5 minutes. In the event of a tie after the extension has expired, a seven-meter throw.
