The Spielothek-Cup 1998 was the 13th edition of the handball competition and was held on August 21 and 22, 1998 in the East Westphalian cities of Minden and Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The TBV Lemgo prevailed in the final with 35:30 (15:14) goals against the TuS Nettelstedt through and won his third overall title, while also addressing the challenge cup passed into the ownership of the club. Third place was secured by TSV GWD Minden with 31:28 (28; 28, 13:16) after throwing seven meters against THW Kiel , with Minden's goalkeeper Henning Wiechers defending all three seven meters from Kiel. The top scorer was Nettelstedts Zoran Mikulić with 21 goals.

It was played with four teams in the knockout system with two semi-finals, the game for third place and the final. The playing time was 2 × 30 minutes. In the event of a tie after the end of normal playing time, there was a seven-meter throw.

As a special feature, with the exception of the final, two referee teams led a game. The exchange took place in the second half.
