The terrorist organization " Islamic State " began its letter of responsibility for the terrorist attacks on November 13, 2015 in Paris with a quote from this verse:

« هُوَ ٱلَّذِیٓ أَخۡرَجَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمۡ لِأَوَّلِ ٱلۡحَشۡرِ »

"Huwa llaḏī ʾaḫraǧa llaḏīna kafarū min ʾahli l-kitābi min diyārihim li-ʾawwali l-ḥašri"

"It is He who drove those of the people of the book who disbelieve from their homes for the first meeting."

- Sura 59, verse 2. Translation: AT Khoury

The phrase "terrifying" in the same verse refers to the killing of Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf of the Banu Nadir tribe, which Mohammed had commissioned a group of conspirators to carry out.

Further content

In the distribution of the booty, the poor emigrants from Mecca are given preference over the helpers from Medina, which they should accept. The hypocrites in Medina are reprimanded for allegedly supporting the beleaguered Banu Nadir, who is in keeping with Satan's intentions to deceive (v. 16). The sura closes with praise to God in which many of his most beautiful names can be found.
