The Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau ( TH Wildau for short ) was founded on October 22, 1991 as the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau in Wildau . It is the largest technical college in the state of Brandenburg and follows on from the tradition of the former Wildau engineering school.

The range of courses comprises 15 courses in the natural sciences, engineering, business, legal, administrative and management disciplines. The range of courses is consistently practice-oriented.

The Studentenwerk Potsdam is responsible for the TH Wildau , with an office on campus.

In order to ensure sustainable study and teaching conditions, the TH Wildau was the first university in Germany to have its quality standards externally assessed and certified according to ISO 9001 in 2009 .

There are no tuition fees for studying at TH Wildau , but semester fees.

Location of the university

The Technical University Wildau is a campus university and is located south of Berlin . The campus and the university can be reached directly from Berlin with the S-Bahn line 46 in the direction of Königs Wusterhausen to the Wildau station. H. the university is right in front of the S-Bahn station. The university can also be reached directly with bus lines 736, 737 and 738. The regional train line RE2 in the direction of Cottbus Hauptbahnhof and the line RB24 in the direction of Senftenberg also enable the university to be reached from Berlin with a change in Königs Wusterhausen.

The university can be reached by car via the Bundesautobahn 10 (Berliner Ring) via the Königs Wusterhausen exit and via the Bundesstraße 179 .

history

The location of the TH Wildau looks back on a long tradition: In 1897 a locomotive plant was built there by the Schwartzkopff company, later Berliner Maschinenbau AG . In 1949 the Wildau Engineering School was established, which trained mechanical engineering students. In 1991, the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau was founded, which, in addition to engineering training, also offers business and administration courses. The practical relevance of the course is still an essential characteristic of the University of Applied Sciences. Cooperation networks connect the University with large international companies and companies in the region. The university has had its current name since September 1, 2009. This was decided by the university's senate on May 11, 2009. The name change was made possible by the amendment of the Brandenburg University Act 2008.

Research and Development

The TH Wildau is a research university. Since 2001, it has been at the forefront of applied research compared to other universities of applied sciences in Germany. Research is carried out in the fields of applied biosciences, computer science / telematics, optical technologies / photonics, production / materials, transport / logistics, and management / law. The university has numerous contacts to practice partners and is a member of several cooperation networks. Well-known cooperation partners in the field of research have already included the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology , the Federal Ministry of Education and Research , Central and State Library Berlin , TÜV Nord , German Cancer Research Center , Volkswagen Coaching and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research .

Further cooperation relationships exist with the State Polytechnic Peter the Great University in St. Petersburg ( Russia ) and the German-Kazakh University in Almaty ( Kazakhstan ) and with 18 German grammar schools in Latin America .

The TH Wildau annually organizes the university's own company contact fair TH Connect on the university campus. The fair is an opportunity to bring companies and students into conversation with one another. Students of the university have the opportunity to get in touch with representatives of the participating companies and to find out about the respective company. Jobs are also advertised at the company contact fair and posted on site. The following companies have taken part in the fair in recent years: Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe , Rolls-Royce Motor Cars , Knorr-Bremse , Norma (retail chain) , Bombardier , Techniker Krankenkasse , DB Mobility Logistics , Siemens , Bundesdruckerei .
