Vayres-sur-Essonne is a French commune with 929 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), which is located in the Essonne department and in the Île-de-France region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Étampes and the Canton of Étampes (until 2015: Canton La Ferté-Alais ). The inhabitants are called Vayrois .

Vayres-sur-Essonne is about 46 kilometers south of Paris on the banks of the Essonne River , which also forms the northeastern municipal boundary. The municipality is located in the Gâtinais français Regional Nature Park . Vayres-sur-Essonne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of D'Huison-Longueville in the north and northwest, Guigneville-sur-Essonne in the north and northeast, Boutigny-sur-Essonne in the east, Courdimanche-sur-Essonne in the south and southeast, Valpuiseaux in the Southwest and Bouville to the west.
