Authon-la-Plaine is a commune with 373 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Essonne in the region of Ile-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Étampes and the Canton of Étampes (until 2015: Canton Dourdan ). The inhabitants are called Authonais .

Authon-la-Plaine is about 53 kilometers south-southwest of Paris . Authon-la-Plaine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Corbreuse in the north, Richarville in the northeast, Plessis-Saint-Benoist in the east, Saint-Escobille in the south, Garancières-en-Beauce in the west and southwest, and Chatignonville in the west and northwest.
