The motorcycle Yamaha DT 125 (DT for D irt T rack) is a Enduro , the German and dirt bike from Yamaha .

history

The development of this model, which can be classified in the class of enduro types today, can be traced back to the DT 1, the production of which the company started in 1967. The single-cylinder two-stroke gasoline engine is characteristic of the DT models that have been manufactured over the years in displacement versions from 50 to 400 cm³ .

Until 2003, the DT 125 R was available in blue, black and white, with an electric start on request. In 2004 the DT 125 RE appeared with an electric starter and catalytic converter, from 2005 the Supermoto series DT 125 X was sold. The Yamaha DT 125 has not been sold in Germany since 2007 due to the stricter approval regulations with regard to exhaust emissions; it is still available in other countries such as Italy. The successor to the Yamaha DT 125 R is the Yamaha XT 125 R, which is equipped with a four-stroke gasoline engine , or rather the WR 125, also equipped with a 4-stroke engine.

technology

The water-cooled Minarelli single-cylinder engine of the DT 125 provides, depending on the type of throttle:

Type 4BL (built 1991-1999),

  • 7 kW / 9.5 PS, top speed 80 km / h.
  • 9 kW / 12 PS, top speed 94 km / h.
  • 11 kW / 15 PS, top speed 112 km / h.
  • 17 kW / 23 PS, top speed 125 km / h.

Type DE03 (year of construction 1999-2003),

  • 10.4 kW / 14 PS, top speed 80 km / h.
  • 10.4 kW / 14 PS, top speed 103 km / h.
  • 17 kW / 23 PS, top speed 125 km / h.

Type DE06 (year of construction 2003-2006),

  • 7 kW / approx. 10 PS, top speed 80 km / h.
  • 10 kW / approx. 14 PS, top speed 80 km / h.
  • 11 kW / 15 PS, top speed 80 km / h.
  • 11 kW / 15 PS, top speed 108 km / h.

The rear wheel is driven by a chain drive with a 16/17 pinion and a 57 chainring (depending on the throttling). The tank of the DT 125 has a capacity of 10.4 l. Depending on the driving style, about 180 km can be bridged (+ 30-35 km reserve). The Yamaha DT 125 is a normal weight 125 cm³ Enduro due to its 127 kg . The maximum speed (not restricted) is entered in the vehicle registration document as 125 km / h. The open power is 17 kW. The DT 125 can also be used off-road thanks to its studded tires and weight.
