geography

The Legerbach flows south of the village and feeds a chain of ponds and flows into Heilbronn as a left tributary into the Aichabach ( called Schönbach in the lower reaches ), which in turn is a left tributary of the Sulzach . Approx. The Mühlfeld is 0.5 km to the northeast, and the Stockäcker approx. 0.75 km to the east. A communal road leads to Heilbronn to state road 2222 (1 km southwest) or past Wiegelshof to Oberahorn (2.2 km northeast).

history

The place name is derived from the “Maria zum Berg” chapel that once stood there. On June 2, 1409, the Feuchtwang monastery exchanged its property there for two goods in Unterahorn , which belonged to Heinz Jakob, a citizen of Dinkelsbühl.

Zumberg was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 the place consisted of 15 properties, 1 shepherd's house and 1 barren chapel. The landlords were feuchtwangische offices (15 properties; Stiftsverwalteramt Feuchtwangen : 3 Halbhöflein, 2 Gütlein; Stadtvogteiamt Feuchtwangen : 1 Halbhof, 2 Gütlein; Monastery Administrator Office Sulz : 1 Gütlein; Vogtamt Schopfloch : 1 Hof, 1 Halbhof, 2 Gütlein), the hospital of the imperial town (1 Gütlein) and the Thürnhofen Manor (1 Gütlein). From 1797 to 1808 the place belonged to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen . The number of properties remained unchanged.

With the community edict (early 19th century) Zumberg was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Heilbronn . In the course of the regional reform , Zumberg was incorporated into Feuchtwangen on January 1, 1972.
