geography
The hamlet is located on the Ransbach , a right tributary of the Sulzach , in a flat hilly plain consisting of grassland and arable land. Approx. 0.75 km to the southwest is the Rothbergholz forest area on an elevation of the Sulzachrandhöhen, a section of the Frankenhöhe . A community road leads to Unterransbach (0.9 km west) or the B 25 crossing the Krebshof and the Unterrothmühle past the state road 1066 near Feuchtwangen (1.1 km south-east).
history
On May 19, 1293, Feuchtwanger Stift sold its vineyards near Ahausen am Main to the Seligenporten monastery for £ 20 . From the proceeds a pond was created on the grounds of Weiler ( fundus Wiler civitati Fuhtwang adjacens ), which was sold on October 15, 1376 with the three goods there to the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich V for 1150 pounds Heller. In 1700 there were three half courtyards there. The pond died around 1720.
Weiler am See was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 the place consisted of 3 properties with 4 teams (1 half yard with double team, 2 half yards). The basic rule of all property had the pin stewardship Feuchtwangen held. At the end of the 18th century there were 5 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .
With the community edict (early 19th century), Weiler am See was assigned to the tax district of Breitenau and the rural community of Banzenweiler . In the course of the regional reform , Weiler am See was incorporated into Feuchtwangen on July 1, 1971.
