geography
The hamlet is located in the valley on Charbach, a right tributary of the Wieseth . The Hirschbrunnen forest borders to the west, the Mörnsheimer Wald to the northwest and the Kapellenwald to the northeast, all of which are higher up than the village. A communal connecting road leads over the Charmühle to Birkach to the district road AN 37 (1.3 km southeast) or the AN 37 crossing to Steinbach (1.7 km southwest).
history
The place name means Waldhof (from ahd. Har = forest). The place was first mentioned by name on January 21, 1343 in a deed of purchase.
Charhof was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 there were 2 properties (1 courtyard with two crews, 1 basket house). The landlord was the city bailiff Feuchtwangen . Nothing had changed in the conditions by the end of the Old Kingdom . From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .
With the community edict (early 19th century) Charhof was assigned to the tax district Weinberg and the rural community Vorderbreitenthann . In the course of the regional reform this was incorporated into Feuchtwangen on January 1, 1972.
