Oberransbach is a district of the town of Feuchtwangen in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village lies in the valley basin of the Ransbach , a right tributary of the Sulzach , and is surrounded by the wooded Sulzacher Randhöhen, a section of the Frankenhöhe . The forest area northwest of the village is called Lohholz, the forest area in the west is called Taubenschläglein. Approx. 1 km south-west is Steinberg ( 521  m above sea level ), approx. 1 km east of the Kronberg ( 507  m above sea level ). A community road leads to Unterransbach (1.2 km east) or to Sperbersbach (1.5 km west).

history

The place was originally called "Oberramsbach". The place name is derived from the name of the water body, whose defining word is probably raban in the contracted form ram ( ahd. For raven ). The Feuchtwangen monastery had six fiefdoms there.

Oberransbach was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 there were 6 properties (1 courtyard, 5 small farms). The Feuchtwangen monastery administrator's office was in charge of village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties . Nothing in these conditions changed until the end of the Old Kingdom . From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .

With the community edict (early 19th century) Oberransbach was assigned to the tax district Breitenau and the rural community Banzenweiler . As part of the regional reform , this was incorporated into Feuchtwangen on July 1, 1971.

Architectural monuments

• Flax breaker house; east of the village, on the way to Weiler am See ; Quarry stone building with open gable roof; Corner blockage; the year 1766 on the lintel
• Kreuzstein, probably medieval; on the north-eastern outskirts on the way to Sperbersbach .
