history

The place name means to the arid court . The place belonged to a former manor. A castle complex with outbuildings and the castle church with neo-Gothic furnishings and bell towers form the center of the place.

Thürnhofen was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 the place consisted of 16 properties (1 small estate with business and baking rights, 1 small estate with blacksmith's, 1 small estate with wagon, 1 small estate with brickworks, 12 small properties), 1 castle and 1 shepherd's house belonging to the municipality. The Thürnhofen manor held the village and community rulership and the manorial rule over all properties. Nothing in these conditions changed until the end of the Old Kingdom . From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .

In 1806 Thürnhofen came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the community edict (early 19th century), the tax district and the rural community Thürnhofen were formed, to which the places Kaierberg , Neumühle and Schindelmühle belonged. It was subject to the Feuchtwangen Regional Court in terms of administration and jurisdiction . The Schindelmühle was no longer mentioned as a district in 1829. For this, Oberkaierberg and Unterkaierberg were temporarily named as districts, which were added to Kaiersberg again from 1885. In 1961 the municipality had an area of 3,631 km². In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria (April 1, 1971) Kaierberg was incorporated into Dentlein am Forst and Thürnhofen initially to Aichau and from January 1, 1972 to Feuchtwangen.
