Adna R. Johnson

Adna Romulus Johnson (born December 14, 1860 in Sweet Springs , Saline County , Missouri , †  June 11, 1938 in Ironton , Ohio ) was an American politician . Between 1909 and 1911 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1864, Adna Johnson moved with his mother to a farm in Lawrence County , Ohio. He attended the public schools in his new home and then taught himself as a teacher for seven years. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his admission as a lawyer, he began to work in Ironton in this profession from 1887. In 1889 he served as a prosecutor in the local Lawrence County. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1908 Johnson was in the tenth electoral district of Ohio in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on March 4, 1909 by Henry T. Bannon took. In 1910 he was nominated for re-election by his party without opposing candidates. Johnson turned down this nomination and waived another candidacy. Therefore, until March 3, 1911, he was only able to serve one term in Congress .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Johnson practiced again as a lawyer. He also worked in banking and various other fields, especially craft. He died on June 11, 1938 in Ironton, where he was buried.
