James Wallace Robinson

James Wallace Robinson (born November 26, 1826 in Union County , Ohio , †  June 28, 1898 in Marysville , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Robinson attended his home public schools and the Marysville Academy . In 1848 he graduated from Jefferson College in Canonsburg ( Pennsylvania ). After studying law at the Cincinnati Law School and being admitted to the bar in 1851, he began to work in this profession in London (Ohio). He was also elected Union County attorney twice. In 1855 he moved to Marysville. Politically, he joined the Republican Party founded in 1854 . From 1860 to 1862 and again in 1864 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives .

In the congressional elections of 1872 Robinson was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Charles Foster on March 4, 1873 . Since he was not confirmed in 1874, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1875 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Robinson practiced law again. He died on June 28, 1898 in Marysville, where he was also buried.
