Douglas Applegate

Douglas Applegate (born March 27, 1928 in Steubenville , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1977 to 1995 he represented the 18th  congressional district of the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Douglas Applegate was born in Steubenville. He attended public schools and earned a high school Accounts 1947 at Steubenville High School. He then worked as a real estate agent. From 1961 to 1968 he was an MP in the Ohio House of Representatives . He was then a member of the State Senate until 1974 .

As the successor to the no longer running Wayne Hays , he was elected in the 1976 congressional elections as a representative of the 18th District of Ohio to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC . He served a total of nine legislative terms. For the Congressional elections in 1994 he did not run.

Today he lives withdrawn from politics in his hometown.
