Stephen A. Northway

Stephen Asa Northway (* 19th June 1833 in Christian Hollow , New York ; † 8. September 1898 in Jefferson , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Republican Party . March 4, 1893 to his death he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 19th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

Life

Northway was born in Christian Hollow. In 1840 he moved to Ohio with his parents. They settled in Orwell . It was there that he completed his school career. After finishing school he studied law . In 1859 he was admitted to the bar. From 1861 to 1865 he was a prosecutor in Ashtabula County . He then served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for two years . Until his election to the US House of Representatives, he worked as a lawyer again.

Northway was a member of the US House of Representatives from 1893 until his death. There he represented the 19th Congressional District of Ohio. Northway died in Jefferson in 1898. He was buried in Oakdale Cemetery .
