Harry C. Gahn

Harry Conrad Gahn (* 26. April 1880 in Elmore , Ottawa and Sandusky County , Ohio , † 2. November 1962 in Cleveland , Ohio) was an American politician of the Republican Party . From 1921 to 1923 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for 21  congressional districts of the State of Ohio.

Harry C. Gahn was born in Elmore. There he attended public schools. In 1904 he finished his law studies at the University of Michigan . He was admitted to the bar that same year and practiced as a lawyer in Cleveland. From 1909 to 1911 he was an attorney for the Cleveland Legal Aid Society. He was a member of the Cleveland City Council from 1910 to 1921, and served as President of the City Council in 1918 and 1919. He was also a member of the Commission on Rivers and Ports of the City of Cleveland from 1911 to 1921.

In 1920 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a representative of Ohio's 21st Congressional District. He represented his district from 1921 to 1923, a re-election failed. He returned to Cleveland to resume his practice as a lawyer. From 1936 onwards he was the Solicitor for Independence in Ohio for 20 years.

Gahn died in Cleveland in 1962. He was buried in the Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery in his hometown.
