Lawrence E. Imhoff (born December 28, 1895 in Belmont County , Ohio , † April 18, 1988 in North Fort Myers , Florida ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . March 4, 1933 to January 3, 1939 and January 3, 1941 to January 3, 1943, he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 18th  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Imhoff was born in Belmont County, Ohio in 1895. In 1907 he moved to St. Clairsville . There he attended high school. During World War I , Imhoff served in the United States Marine Corps from August 9, 1917 until his honorable discharge on April 1, 1919 . During this time he was awarded the Purple Heart . After the war he studied law at Ohio State University . In 1930 he was admitted to the bar.

In 1932 Imhoff was elected to the US House of Representatives for the first time. There he represented the 18th District of Ohio. He was re-elected twice. In 1941 he left again. In 1939 and 1940 he was special assistant to the United States Attorney General . In 1940 he managed to move into the house again . As early as 1942, however, he was again defeated by his predecessor and successor Earl R. Lewis . During the Second World War Imhoff served in the US Navy Reserve .

Imhoff lived in seclusion in North Fort Myers until his death in 1988. He was also buried there.
