Pat Tiberi

Patrick Joseph "Pat" Tiberi (* 21st October 1962 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . From 2001 to 2018 he was a member of the United States House of Representatives for the 12th  Congressional constituency of his state .

Family, education and work

Tiberi is the son of Italian immigrants. He first attended the Woodward Park Middle School before at the Northland High School his high school did Accounts. After graduation, he attended the Ohio State University , a journalism on -Studies. He successfully completed this in 1985. During his student days he was a member of the Ohio State University Marching Band , a band that played at larger events. He worked as a real estate agent at a subsidiary of RE / MAX .

Tiberi is Catholic . He lives in Galena with his wife Denice .

Political career

In 1993 Tiberi was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives. In the November 2000 election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the 12th congressional electoral district of Ohio, where he replaced his fellow party member John Kasich on January 3, 2001 . Tiberi was re-elected in all subsequent elections, most recently in 2016 , and was a member of the influential Committee on Ways and Means and three of its sub-committees. Within the Republican Party, he is a member of an association called the Republican Main Street Partnership .

In October 2017, Tiberi announced that it would leave the House of Representatives in January 2018. The New York Times saw this as a sign of the growing dissatisfaction of many Republicans with the deadlock in Congress despite their own majority. After leaving Congress on January 15, 2018, he took over the leadership of the Ohio Business Roundtable in early January 2018 . In August 2018, Republican Troy Balderson narrowly prevailed over Democrat Danny O'Connor in the extraordinary by-election for the rest of his mandate, which ended on January 3, 2018 .

Tiberi turned his congressional papers over to the Ohio State University Archives in July 2018 .
