Henry Towne Bannon (born June 5, 1867 near Portsmouth , Ohio , †  September 6, 1950 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1909 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Bannon attended public schools in his home country. In 1885 and 1886 he studied at Ohio State University in Columbus . He then continued his education until 1889 at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor . After studying law and his admission to the bar in 1891, he began to work in Portsmouth in this profession. Between 1897 and 1902 he was a prosecutor in Scioto County . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In the congressional election of 1904 , Bannon was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Stephen Morgan on March 4, 1905 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1909 . In 1908 he renounced another candidacy.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Henry Bannon practiced as a lawyer again. In 1924, 1928, 1932, 1936 and 1940 he took part as a delegate at the respective Republican National Conventions . He was also a director of the First National Bank of Portsmouth and Oak Hill Savings Bank and Selby Shoe Co. He also worked on literary matters. He died on September 6, 1950 in Portsmouth, where he was also buried.
