Albert Jackson Pearson (born May 20, 1846 in Centerville , Belmont County , Ohio , †  May 15, 1905 in Woodsfield , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1891 and 1895 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In his childhood, Albert Pearson moved with his parents to Beallsville , where he attended public schools. Then he attended the Normal School in Lebanon . During the final stages of the Civil War , he served in the Union Army in 1865 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1868, he began to work in Woodsfield in this profession. Between 1871 and 1877 he was a prosecutor in the local Monroe County . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He served in the Ohio Senate in 1881 and 1882 . From 1884 to 1890 he served as probate judge in Monroe County.

In the 1890 congressional election , Pearson was elected to the 17th  constituency of Ohio in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Joseph D. Taylor on March 4, 1891 . After a re-election in the 16th district, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1895 . In 1894 he renounced another candidacy. After serving in the US House of Representatives, Pearson returned to practice as a lawyer. He died on May 15, 1905 in Woodsfield, where he was also buried.
