Grant E. Mouser

Grant Earl Mouser (born September 11, 1868 in LaRue , Marion County , Ohio , †  May 6, 1949 in Marion , Ohio) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1909 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Grant Mouser attended public schools in his home country and then Ada University . After a subsequent law degree at the Cincinnati Law School and his admission as a lawyer in 1890, he began to work in Marion in this profession. Between 1893 and 1896 he was a Marion County attorney. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He has been a delegate to many regional Republican conventions in Ohio. In June 1908 he also took part in the Republican National Convention in Chicago , where William Howard Taft was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In the 1904 congressional election , Mouser was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 13th  constituency of Ohio , where he succeeded Amos H. Jackson on March 4, 1905 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1909 . In 1908 he was no longer confirmed in his mandate.

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Mouser returned to practice as a lawyer. Between 1916 and 1925 he was an appellate judge in Marion County. He then continued to practice law until 1935. He then retired. He died on May 6, 1949 in Marion, where he was also buried. His son Grant Jr. (1895-1943) was also a member of Congress.
