Francis A. Cunningham

Francis Alanson Cunningham (* 9. November 1804 in Abbeville , Abbeville County , South Carolina ; † 16th August 1864 in Eaton , Ohio ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . March 4, 1845 to March 3, 1847 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the second  congressional district of the state of Ohio.

biography

Francis Cunningham was born in Abbeville. He moved to Eaton at the age of 22. There he taught in a school. He then studied medicine and opened a doctor's practice in 1829. In 1833 he was the clerk of the Preble County court .

In 1844 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a representative of the 2nd District of Ohio. He succeeded John B. Weller . He only sat one term in the House and was replaced by David Fisher in 1847 . He then studied law . In 1847 he was admitted to the bar and from then on also worked as a lawyer. From 1847 to 1863 he was a paymaster in the US Army .

Cunningham died in his adopted home Eaton in 1864 and was buried in Mount Hill Cemetery .
