history

The first documentary mention of Otěšice as the property of the St. George Monastery in Prague took place in 1228. Since 1328 the family z Otěšic and from 1385 their line Bohušov z Otěšic can be proven as landlords. During this time, a division of property must have followed, in 1378 the Černín z Chudenic also owned a part of the place. Jaroslav z Čočovic belonged to the other owners from 1427. In 1495 Otěšice was divided between Jan z Prostiboře, who received the festivals, and Vilém z Chřínova and Jan Bohuchval z Hrádku, to whom the court and the village went. Vilém z Chřínova shared his share with Merklín . The festival fell in the 16th century and was never mentioned again. Shortly before the Thirty Years' War, the dismemberment was ended and the whole of Otěšice was incorporated into the Merklín estate . After the abolition of patrimonial Otěšice became an independent municipality in 1850. Erduard Pálffy zu Erdöd acquired the manor in the second half of the 19th century . In 1890 the village had 393 inhabitants, in 1920 there were 445.
