Andrej Alehawitsch Kaszizyn ( Belarusian Андрэй Алегавіч Касціцын , Russian Андрей Олегович Костицын / Andrei Olegovich Kostizyn; * 3. February 1985 in Navapolatsk , Byelorussian SSR ) is a Belarusian ice hockey player , who at since May 2020 HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the Continental Hockey League is under contract . His younger brother Sjarhej is also a hockey player.

Career

Andrei Kaszizyn began his career as a hockey player with Polimir Navapolazk , for which he was active in the East European Hockey League and the Belarusian Extra League until 2002 . The attacker then played in the Russian Super League for HK CSKA Moscow for two years . During this time he was selected in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as the tenth player of the Montréal Canadiens . After he had already played for their farm team , the Hamilton Bulldogs from the American Hockey League , during the lockout in the 2004/05 season , the Belarusian made his debut for the Canadiens in the National Hockey League in the 2005/06 season .

On February 27, 2012, a few hours before the trade deadline , the Habs transferred him to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a second-round vote in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and a five-round performance-related vote in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft .

Return to Russia

In summer 2012 he was unable to agree on a new contract with the Predators and therefore moved back to Europe in September, where he was signed by HK Traktor Chelyabinsk from the Continental Hockey League . At HK Traktor he was one of the top performers and reached the 2013 playoff final for the Gagarin Cup with the team , in which it was defeated by HK Dynamo Moscow .

During the 2014/15 season , Kaszizyn was given to the newly founded KHL participant HK Sochi .

In the 2017/18 season he was under contract with Kunlun Red Star , but only made 22 appearances for the team from Beijing . In May 2018, Kaszitsyn was signed by HK Dinamo Minsk , where he met his brother Sjarhej. In the following two years Andrej was assistant captain at Dinamo and was Dinamo's second-best scorer in both seasons. In May 2020 he left the club and was signed by Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk .
