The Badsee area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.178) in the north-west of the city of Isny in the Allgäu and north-east of the municipality of Argenbühl , Baden-Württemberg in Germany, designated by ordinance of January 21, 1991 by the Tübingen regional council .
location
The approximately 17 hectare nature reserve Badsee is part of the Westallgäu hill country . It is located about seven kilometers northwest of downtown Isny, on the southwestern part of the Badsee (also Haldensee ), at an altitude of 680 m above sea level. NN . The landmarks between the hamlets of Winnis in the north, Beuren in the south and Enkenhofen in the west, in a former tongue basin of the Rhine Glacier , are marked with Christazhofen (to Argenbühl) and Beuren (to Isny).
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the bathing lake and the adjacent silting bog with its characteristic zoning from the floating leaf zone to the raised bog as a typical example of such silting succession , as a retreat for valuable fauna and flora at the otherwise intensively used bathing lake and as an important link in the network of wetlands in the natural area , especially for resting migratory birds .

The lake is of particular importance for the bird world in spring and autumn. Then numerous species rest here at times during the bird migration . In addition to dragonflies , butterflies and grasshoppers , the fauna worthy of protection includes the following species:
- Goosander ( Mergus merganser ), the largest member of the genus of the sawmill from the duck bird family
- Reed Warbler ( Acrocephalus scirpaceus ), also popularly known as Reed Sparrow , a songbird species from the warbler family
Landscape protection area
The 1,069 hectare Badsee landscape protection area is adjacent to the nature reserve . It was designated in 1981 to protect the typical small-scale Allgäu landscape with its standing and flowing waters, in particular the bank areas as well as moors, littered meadows , forests and woody plants and the typical morphological small forms in the interest of the flora and fauna typical of this area as well as the preservation of the recreational suitability.
