Arrach was first mentioned in a document in 1383. Since the 13th century, the Rott monastery was wealthy in this area. From 1580 to 1592 the Arracher area was repopulated. The Rott monastery exercised the manorial rule here until the 17th century .

The municipality of Arrach is made up of the municipalities of Arrach and Haibühl, which were independent until the municipal reform and merged on May 1, 1978.
