EF Pro Cycling is an American cycling team based in Boulder .

organization

The team is operated by the US company Slipstream Sports . Jonathan Vaughters formed the team together in 2003 as a Junior Development Team. The main sponsor was initially the 5280 magazine from Denver . In the following year TIAA-CREF became a sponsor. As of 2005, the team was licensed as a Continental Team , which mainly participated in the UCI America Tour . 5280 and TIAA-CREF also supported the young drivers of the racing team in the following years. In terms of sponsorship, she replaced the Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant chain . For the 2007 season, the team was renamed Slipstream Chipotle and drove with a license as a Professional Continental Team .

Shortly before the start of the Tour de France in June 2008, a new sponsor was presented with the manufacturer of GPS receivers Garmin . From then on, the team started under the name Garmin-Slipstream presented by H3O . As of the 2009 season, the team started with a ProTeam license. For the 2011 season, the former Garmin-Transitions team merged with the Cervélo TestTeam to form the Garmin-Cervélo team . In 2012, the team called itself Garmin-Barracuda as the new name sponsor after the IT security company Barracuda Networks joined . The previous name sponsor, Cervélo , continued to equip the team with bikes. In 2013 and 2014, electronics company Sharp was the second name sponsor.

After the bike manufacturer Cannondale ended its involvement with the Italian Cannondale team at the end of the 2014 season , it became the name sponsor and supplier of the team and one of the main shareholders of the operating company Slipstream Sports . In anticipation of the merger with the Australian Professional Continental Team in 2017 Drapac Professional Cycling , the investment fund operator Drapac Capital Partners became the second name sponsor with the start of the Tour de France 2016 . The Australian team took on the role of the “ farm team ” of the WorldTeam under the name Drapac-Pat's Veg .

In addition to the ProTeam, Slipstream Sports also ran the Chipotle Development Team as a farm team in 2011 and 2012 with the status of UCI Continental Team and in 2011 a UCI Women's Team , also called " Garmin-Cervélo ", and in 2012 with the Dutch team AA Drink -leontien.nl was merged.

In 2018 was EF Education , a provider of educational and travel services, new title sponsor, who is also the majority shareholder of the operating company Slipstream Sports Inc took over. Since then, the team has dedicated itself to long-distance races and races on gravel roads in addition to classic road cycling.

The team is a member of the movement for credible cycling . The driver Tom Danielson tested positive for synthetic testosterone in the A-sample on July 9, 2015 . It was the first positive doping test from a Slipstream driver since the team was founded.
