Eastvale is a city in Riverside County in the US state of California . Until 2010, Eastvale was a Unincorporated Area .

geography

Eastvale is located northwest of Riverside County in Southern California . The urban area extends to 29.644 km², of which 29.539 km² are land. It is bordered by San Bernardino County to the west and north , Interstate 15 to the east, and the Santa Ana River and the city of Norco to the south . The population is 53,668 (as of 2010).

In Eastvale, like most of western Riverside County, most households use the 951 area code. However, since the country boundaries do not always coincide with the area code boundaries, some residents still have the older 909 area code.

Infrastructure

Los Angeles County's borders are eight kilometers northwest of Eastvale, and Orange County's borders are eight kilometers southwest. The proximity to these economically strong counties and the location between Interstate 15 , California State Route 91 , California State Route 60 and California State Route 71 make Eastvale very attractive for commuters.

Demographics

The 2010 census showed a population of 53,668. The demographic structure of the population groups shows that a relative majority of urban residents are Latinos . This population group makes up 40 percent of the population. Whites with no Hispanic background make up just 25 percent. The number of Asians is also above average for California. Their share is 24 percent. African Americans make up a majority of just under ten percent of urban residents. The number of households was 13,640. The gender distribution is almost even, with 98.1 men for every 100 women. The census also found a median age of the urban population of 30.9 years. With a median income of nearly $ 106,000 annually, Eastvale has the highest median income in Riverside County.

history

Eastvale was very rural until the late 1990s and lived mostly on milk production and agriculture , before the city increasingly became home to commuters who could buy affordable houses in Eastvale.

The place was hit hard by the real estate bubble in the USA at the end of the last decade. In the early part of the decade many homes were sold at high prices due to inflation . This was followed by a drastic drop in prices of almost 50 percent in three years: in 2006 a house in Eastvale cost an average of 601,000 US dollars, in June 2009 it was only 304,000 US dollars.

Efforts to be appointed City

Eastvale was one of several unincorporated areas in Riverside County that was interested in a City elevation . The passage of Law AB 1602 in the middle of the last decade made it easier for the unincorporated areas to acquire town charter by providing additional funds. In 2008 the parishes of Menifee, Sun City and Quail Valley merged to form Menifee, California . In addition, there was also interest in either raising Mira Loma herself to the city or merging Glen Avon , Mira Loma, Pedley , Rubidoux and Sunnyslope into Jurupa Valley , which also happened in 2011.

Eastvale itself drove the efforts to be named a city with the help of the Eastvale Incorporation Committee , with the support of civic groups.

However, resistance also formed among the population, which was justified, among other things, by the fact that Eastvale did not have a sufficient tax base to survive as a city and would make itself dependent. In addition, the public services such as the police and fire brigade under the administration of Riverside County were sufficient and it was therefore not necessary for the city to take care of this itself in the future. Most residents did not consider the city survey to be fundamentally wrong, but rather the timing.

The Eastvale Incorporation Committee collected enough signatures to vote on the city designation, which took place on June 8, 2010. The founding of the city was decided with 65.77 percent of the votes. The first city council was elected on the same day. On October 1st, Eastvale finally became a separate town.

Before Eastvale was promoted to City, letters were not addressed to Eastvale itself, but to the much larger neighboring city of Corona , as the nearest post office was of sufficient size here.
