The 2019/20 season of the Middle Rhine League was the 64th season of the Middle Rhine League football and the eighth as the fifth-highest division in Germany under Oberliga status. It opened on August 23, 2019 with SV Breinig's game against SV Eilendorf . From December 9, 2019 to February 29, 2020, the season was interrupted by the winter break, and again on March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic , which ultimately resulted in the interruption on June 21.
Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic
On March 13, 2020, the FVM announced that it would suspend play in the Mittelrheinliga until April 17, 2020. Even before the deadline had expired, the DFB announced the final decision of the 21 regional associations to suspend play from the regional league downwards until further notice.
An extraordinary association day on June 21st should finally clarify how the playing time is rated. Since not all teams had the same number of games, a quotient table was drawn up (points scored divided by games played) in order to obtain a final result. FC Wegberg-Beeck was promoted to the Regionalliga West for the 2020/21 season , there were no relegators . In addition, it was agreed on one promoted per season from the subordinate state league .
