3rd league 2017/18

The 2017/18 season of the Regionalliga Südwest was the tenth season of the regional football league as the fourth-highest division in Germany. It began on July 28, 2017 with the game of SSV Ulm 1846 against 1. FC Saarbrücken (1: 4) and ended on May 12, 2018.

Attendees

Venues of the Regionalliga Südwest 2017/18
1 TSV Steinbach plays in Haiger.
2 1. FC Saarbrücken also plays in Völklingen.

The following clubs qualified for the 2017/18 season:

In addition, in the second half of the season, the Chinese U20s should compete against the free team in the opponent's stadium to prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. 14 of the 19 association representatives agreed to a corresponding agreement on July 11, 2017. This was due to an agreement concluded on November 25, 2016 between Germany and China as well as the DFB , the DFL and the Chinese football association CFA . After just one game (a 3-0 defeat against TSV Schott Mainz) the project was canceled and the team was brought back to China. Tibetan anti- annexation activists had previously demonstrated against the Chinese policy on Tibet by showing the Tibetan flag during the game in Mainz , whereupon the game had to be briefly interrupted because the Chinese players refused to continue playing as long as the flag, which is prohibited in China, was shown becomes. On December 22, 2017, the DFB and the CFA decided not to continue the test series. Apart from TSV Schott Mainz, the participating clubs will not receive the promised bonus of 15,000 euros.
