Football Association Cup 2008/09

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The participants of the 21 national associations of the DFB in the DFB-Pokal 2009/10 were determined via the football association cup 2008/09 . The winners of the association cups were entitled to participate in the first round of the DFB Cup. The three associations with the largest number of members, Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Westphalia, each also sent the losing finalists. Thus 24 amateur clubs qualified for the national cup competition via the association cups.

With the reorganization of the league system in summer 2008 (introduction of the third division ), second teams from professional clubs ( first and second Bundesliga ) were no longer allowed to take part in the DFB Cup.
