  • In the last qualifying game for the European Football Championship in 1984 , Spain beat Malta 12-1. After that, the Maltese team was accused of manipulation, as Spain needed exactly one victory with an 11 goal difference to qualify for the European Championship.
  • The 2-1 victory, in which both goals were scored by André Schembri, in the European Championship qualification 2008 on October 11, 2006 against Hungary and the 1-0 against Ukraine in Graz with a goal by Zach Muscat were the last sensations that Malta took care of.
  • On March 26, 2008, Malta celebrated the highest victory in the association's history, a 7-1 against Liechtenstein .
  • On October 11, 2011, the four Maltese players David Carabott , Gilbert Agius , Carmel Busuttil and Joe Brincat were honored by UEFA for more than 100 international matches. When it comes to the total number of international matches, UEFA uses the Maltese association's count, which differs from the FIFA count.
