Hemsbünde is a member municipality of the combined municipality of Bothel in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in Lower Saxony .

Community structure
The districts of Hassel, Hastedt and Worth belong to the community. Together with the core town of Hemsbünde, these villages are often referred to as water villages . This term is derived from the multiple floods of the Rodau and Wiedau .
Neighboring communities
history
From 1906 to 1958 Hemsbünde owned a train station on the Bremervörde – Walsrode railway line in the section between Rotenburg (Wümme) and Visselhövede. Since 1971 the community of Hemsbünde has belonged to the then newly founded joint community of Bothel.
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the communities Hassel and Hastedt were incorporated into Hemsbünde .

Municipal council
The council of the municipality of Hemsbünde consists of eleven council women and councilors. This is the specified number for the member municipality of an integrated municipality with a population between 1001 and 2000 inhabitants. The council members are elected for a five-year term by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

economy
The community is home to two large wood processing companies. While agriculture has lost more and more of its importance in recent years, tourism has now also gained a slight importance for Hemsbünde. An industrial park has developed on the main road.

There is no comprehensive high-speed connection to a fiber optic network. As an alternative to an Internet connection via the landline connection, only the connection via radio (LTE) is to be mentioned. (As of November 2016)
