    The House of Assembly (German: Assembly House ) is the lower house in the bicameral system of Barbados .

    Parliament's roots go back to 1639 when the MPs of the House of Burgesses , the forerunner of the House of Assembly, met for the first session.

    It consists of 30 MPs who are elected for five years in 30 constituencies according to the majority voting system. Actively entitled to vote are citizens of Barbados as well as citizens of other Commonwealth -Staaten living in Barbados for at least three years. The minimum age is 18 years. Citizens of Barbados who are at least 21 years old are eligible to vote.

    The chamber is located in the east wing of the parliament building. Speaker of the House of Assembly is Arthur E. Holder .
