history

“Davoser Kristall” - Award for the winners of the Davos International Sports Night

The event has existed since 2001 and was brought into being by Davos landlord Antonio Sellitto , his son Alessandro Sellitto and other family friends. The event has taken place thirteen times since it was founded. The gala is organized exclusively by volunteers who work on an honorary basis. The award ceremony is moderated by Christa Rigozzi and Jann Billeter . A feature of the event is that the sporting world is not divided into categories as it is with other awards - it also recognizes marginal, extreme and disabled athletes.

The award is given to the athletes in the form of a crystal sculpture. The event is financed by sponsors, patrons and guests and the profit goes to charitable projects. Since 2012, the net profit has been donated to the Wings for Life Foundation . In previous years, the SOS Children's Village and individual charitable projects were supported by FIFA .
