James O. McManus

James O. McManus (born October 18, 1894 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ; †?) Was an American politician . Between 1939 and 1941 he was Lieutenant Governor of the State of Rhode Island .

Nothing is known about James McManus' youth and schooling. There is also no information in the sources about his career outside of politics. He came to West Warwick , Kent County at an unknown time . During the First World War he served in the US Navy . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1938 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island alongside William Henry Vanderbilt . He held this office between 1939 and 1941. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1940 he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate ; In 1942, his candidacy for governor of Rhode Island failed. After that his track is lost.
