Rosewell Burchard

Rosewell B. Burchard (born August 20, 1860 in New York City , † June 22, 1931 in Providence , Rhode Island ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Rhode Island.

Career

Rosewell Burchard attended Eastman Business College and then the College of the City of New York until 1880 . After studying law at Harvard University , he was admitted to the bar in 1903. It is not known whether he actually worked legally. He came to Little Compton , Rhode Island at an unknown point in time , where he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1905 and 1912 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Rhode Island , of which he was president from 1907 to 1911.

In 1912, Burchard was elected Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island alongside Aram J. Pothier . He held this office between 1913 and 1915. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1914 he ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives . After the end of his tenure as Lieutenant Governor, the trail of Rosewell Burchard is lost.
