Henry Tillinghast Sisson
Henry Tillinghast Sisson (born August 20, 1831 in Fall River , Massachusetts , † October 19, 1910 in Providence , Rhode Island ) was an American politician . Between 1875 and 1877 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Rhode Island.
Career
Henry Sisson lived most of his life in Little Compton , Rhode Island, where he inherited the family farm. During the civil war he served in various functions in the army of the Union , in which he rose to colonel. He took part in several battles and campaigns. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .
In 1874, Sisson was elected Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island alongside Henry Lippitt . He held this office between 1875 and 1877. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active. He is considered to be the inventor of the American version of the file folder , the so-called Three Ring Binder . Henry Sisson died in Providence on October 19, 1910 and was buried in Little Compton.
