Zenas Work Bliss

Zenas Work Bliss (born January 10, 1867 in Johnston , Rhode Island , †  January 10, 1957 in Cranston , Rhode Island) was an American politician . Between 1910 and 1913 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Rhode Island.

Career

Zenas Work Bliss, son of Major General Zenas Bliss , studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until 1889 . He then worked in the real estate industry. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1903 and 1909 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Rhode Island . In 1909 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island at the side of Aram J. Pothier . He held this office between 1910 and 1913. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . Between 1912 and 1935 he was chairman of his state's State Tax Commission .

Bliss was a member of several organizations and associations. This also included the Freemasons . He died in Cranston on January 10, 1957, his 90th birthday.
