Edward P. Gallogly

Edward Peter Gallogly (born August 28, 1919 in Providence , Rhode Island , †  April 18, 1995 in South Kingstown , Rhode Island) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1961 and 1965 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Rhode Island.

Career

Edward Gallogly graduated from Providence College . After completing a law degree at the School of Law at Boston University and his admission to the bar, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1954 he was elected to the Rhode Island Senate; in August 1964 he took part as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City , on which President Lyndon B. Johnson was nominated for re-election.

In 1960 Gallogly was elected lieutenant governor of Rhode Island alongside John A. Notte . He held this office after a re-election between 1961 and 1965. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. Since 1963 he served under the new governor John Chafee . Between 1967 and 1969 he served as the state attorney for Rhode Island. He was then presiding judge on the Family Court of his state from 1969 to 1986 . He died on April 18, 1995 in Wakefield , a village belonging to South Kingstown.
